On each of those days, every solve earns a sharpness score: a clue-free solve on your first guess is the best possible. Every clue used costs a lot, every extra guess costs a little, and a miss scores nothing.
Whichever mode you solved more sharply that day takes rating points off the other β and the bigger the gap in sharpness, the more points swing across.
Over time, the mode you're consistently better at pulls ahead. The number isn't a score to chase β it just tells you which side you've got the better eye for.
